This 1970 Jaguar XKE Roadster was reportedly purchased new in Germany by an American serviceman at Peter Lindner’s dealership. In 1972, the original owner is said to have damaged the engine while racing a Ferrari on the autobahn, so a replacement 4.2-liter block was installed by a Jaguar dealership. The second owner acquired the car while stationed in Germany and imported it to Ohio in 1979. A restoration was commenced in the 1990s and included an engine rebuild, bodywork and corrosion repair, a repaint in factory Opalescent Silver Blue. Over $18k has recently been spent completing the restoration, correctly sorting the vehicle, and returning it to largely factory spec throughout, including a new top, redone interior, and extensive mechanical servicing.
